My Story

Hi,

For most of my life, I have suffered from an autoimmune disease called psoriasis. Psoriasis did spread havoc on my body and life at a young age, due to a traumatic incident. Little did I know, my thoughts of food would change forever.  As a 12-year-old with a hideous skin rash, it did not play well with my confidence; I was very shy and closed off. I believed people thought I was carrying a contagious skin disease.

My psoriasis could have been worse, but my mom guided and showed me ways to heal my body naturally with food and supplements. Meals at our home were pretty boring; we lived off brown rice, vegetables, lentils, and fruit.  Mom made sure my sisters and I had no candy, no white bread, no sugary cereals, and no soda. If it wasn't for my mom's passion for nutrition and health, I wouldn't be where I am now.

Now, I am going to bring you on a little journey of my life and how it has brought me to you. In the 80's and 90's, in elementary and high school, we were told fats made us fat and carbohydrates made us slim and trim. In turn, today there are many studies showing a high fat diet filled with Omega 3, 6, 9 play a huge part in the maintenance and function of our brain and body. Back then, I avoided any type of fat to keep thin. I also drank a lot of diet coke to keep my calories low. Aspartame became the number one sugar substitute, and we all know what aspartame does to the body. To top it all off, I used smoking and drinking to mask what I was feeling. Although my bad choices had consumed me, I was able to find refuge in sports and exercising. Sports and exercising was and still is the only way for me to mentally escape.

At the age of 24, in 1996, I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter. Having a child scared the hell out of me. The father was not around, and I was on my own. I needed to step up and be a mom and dad for this child. I didn't want my bad lifestyle choices to be anywhere near my daughter. Therefore, I quit drinking, and smoking. My daughter became the most important thing in my life. My psoriasis almost disappeared after a year, but my path to health was taken on another detour, due to stress of being a single mother with 3 jobs. I managed a golf course during the day and waitressed during the night. With any time to spare, I did odd jobs just to make ends meet. I was working my ass off, so my daughter could have a comfortable lifestyle. Unfortunately, the endless hours of work were destroying my body and soul. Something needed to be done.

At the age of 40, in 2012, I had oral thrush (Candida). To get rid of the candida, I had to put myself on a very strict diet. I illuminated drinking, smoking, dairy, gluten, and sugar and added in vitamins, minerals and herbs. In addition, with my dedication and passion for cooking and food, I was able to eat a variety of foods without depriving myself of what I loved to eat.  My oral thrush went away. During this time, I was also making a huge courier change, due to an injury to my back during a CrossFit class. Because I was no longer able to lift, push, or pull anything, I went back to college to start a new career; I did 5 years and received my bachelor's in business.

At the age of 50, in 2022, I started having chest pains, during work outs. I went to see a cardiologist and was sent for an angiogram, due to the history with my dad having heart issues. The cardiologist found one of my main artery's 90% blocked. A stint was put in, and I was left shocked and confused. I knew my early years were pretty rough, due to stress, injuries, drinking and smoking, but I didn't think it was that bad. I was not expecting to be on the brink of a heart attack. What did I do wrong? The research began and new beginnings were on its way.

My whole life I always wanted to be in the holistic industry but never was ready to commit to the lifestyle. Now, my passion is to help others, like myself, overcome their obstacle to heal their body from the root up. Therefore, I became a Certified Functional Nutritionist. I don't want others to go through what I have been through. By becoming a functional nutritionist, it enables me to help others struggling to find the underlying cause of their illness. Nutrition, supplements and lifestyle changes will help prevent, maintain, and/or eliminate your pain and suffering, naturally.
